How Mommy Met Daddy
Just came back from my “how to farm contacts for your online community” class where I asked around about The Rules. Expected faces of ‘what’, or ‘is that related to the Ten Commandments?’ Sore disappointment. Most American girls know about The Rules. That’s how, and I quote literally, ‘Mommy met Daddy.’

There was an episode of "How I Met Your Mother" last season featuring Jennifer Lopez (I was skeptical too, but she was good) playing a women who wrote a "Rules"-type book.
ReplyDeleteI had to explain to my non-American girlfriend about the cultural phenomenon that was "The Rules," and I too was surprised that it still had currency.
Oh, got to go- my egg timer just ran out ...
You would think it would go away... but no. On the contrary there are more and more workshops like that, some even cost up to $5000!

Yeah, if I remember right, Rules Girls were meant to keep an egg timer by the phone, and limit the length of their conversations with prospective beaus to 15 min(?) "Always keep them wanting more" ...
